Time Warp
I don't know where the time goes, but I know that I have never been busier in my life. I have never been more physically exhausted in my life. I realized the other day that I had not been alone in my own house for eight months. I recently fell asleep driving to work. I almost fell asleep at my desk. I fell asleep playing with Alexa on a Saturday morning and she smacked me in the head. I don't understand why I can't remember to zip my pants. I look terrible. People ask Picard if he's tired. What is this madness? Oh, right. Right. Parenthood!
The past two months have been the most exhilarating of parenthood so far. Alexa has been growing and changing like a weed. I feel like we can barely keep up. I just love studying this little creature. She has so much personality. I could write an 800 page novel about everything that has changed with her since I last posted, but since I'm in the twilight zone of parental exhaustion, the cliff notes version will have to do. It's better than not posting, right?
But, every ounce of bile is worth the beauty that now comes out of Alexa's mouth. She's talking!! She says Mom (with a 'b' so it sounds like 'bom'), Da (and occasionally Daddy) up, hi and yeah. I know you're probably thinking that she's a little young to be saying so many words, but I tell you when this girl decides to talk, it's as clear as day. She doesn't say her magic words very often, but when she does my heart skips a beat. And I've only given her credit for words she has said independently and within the appropriate context. She has also said ear once and one day said Amie when the nanny was talking to me. I don't give credit for those because she's never said them again and she was repeating what someone else said to her in the moment.

Grandmothers are the people who take delight in hearing babies breathing into the telephone.

Sorry to hear about the food sensitivities! Major suckage. Just got back from the doctor's office and received our GI referral. Who can see us the last week of JUNE. Let the phone tag begin.
May we all get some restful rest.

I miss seeing and holding the little beauty so much, I can hardly stand it being 3 hrs. away.
Doesn't it just do your heart good to see how Al is a completely relaxed father the way Gary is?
Al may soon be able to claim the title of "Baby Whisperer the Second."
And one more thing: Alexa has such flexibility (like your doctor said) that I can hardly wait till I can start stockpiling the new tutu's and tights.
Love, Mama-Pat
