Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

The Return of Sunshine

This last week we got Alexa back. I can't even remember which day it was. She woke up. She finally wasn't sick, experiencing separation anxiety, stranger anxiety, having an allergic reaction to anything or teething. She does have a pretty severe diaper rash from the antibiotics, but that won't slow a girl like Alexa down. She woke up all smiles and went to sleep all smiles. She had energy. Joy. The best laugh in the world.

To be honest I thought we had lost her. Or less dramatically, maybe we didn't know her personality as well as we thought we did. She just hasn't really been herself for more than a month. She lost her cool. She became a crying mess. She wasn't smiling like usual. She stopped sleeping through the night. It just wasn't a side of her we've seen before. Now I know what people who have normal infants go through. Alexa has spoiled us with her abundantly good and easy going nature. I never had any of this when she was a few weeks old. It totally rocked my world when it popped up at eight months.

Happy Belated Easter! I got a pretty learning purse from the Easter Bunny!

It's soooo good to have her back. Alexa, the real Alexa, has a beautiful and spunky personality. When she's in the zone, the days never seem long enough to soak up her adorable giggle and silly grin. She'll always be our sunshine, we're just happy she's popped back out from behind the clouds.

Great to hear Alexa is so much better! Nobody acts nice when they feel lousy. And on top of that, she can't always express what she wants you to guess. It sure must be tough being a wee one.
Gary's had a little bout with flu, but not the swine kind. Even born farmers don't want that kind.

Have a downright happy and fun week with your bambino, guys!

Thank you SOOO much, Amie, for your funny words and beautiful pix of your family. I know how busy you guys are...I remember those early years quite well and they could be quite overwhelming.

Sometimes I'm on your blog quite late at night just to savor some time with my little beauty. Gary and I just crack up when we see her little legs flying out above her and behind her. Like I said a blog or two ago, this one's going to be more than ready for that tutu and tights! Alan's going to have more fun playing hide and seek before long... :)
Love, Mama-Pat
