Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Long Lost Friends

Creative nanny brought scarfs to play!

Hello dear friends. We've gotten to that awkward place where we haven't communicated in so long, it's hard to catch up. So much has happened. When you get this out of touch, and the relationship is important (and it is), you just have to dive in and start talking. Here's a short version of the updates. A starting place, if you will. We'll build from here as the week goes on.

I'm back at work. I started last Monday. I sell workforce and economic development services for our local community college. I will sell contract training services most of the time. I have a lot to learn. I'm learning about learning, or meta-learning. I love anything I can describe with the prefix meta.

Alexa's nanny is fabulous. Not only did we get a nanny, but Alexa got a play pal who is exactly seven days older than her - the nanny's daughter. They've only been together one week, but already look forward to seeing each other.

Alexa didn't get the whole play pal thing the first day. It was almost like she was oblivious to her little friend.

And then the very next day they started to play together.

We had a pretty good household maintenance work flow plan for me to return to work. What used to take an entire week to do now must be crammed into nights and weekends. It's exhausting, but I know we'll figure it out. We move things around as we find out what doesn't work and pat ourselves on the back when one of our plans does work. What does work is getting ready for bed at 9 p.m. So, that's it for tonight. I'll take baby steps to bring you back into the loop. Feel free to leave your most pressing questions in the comments section.

That's the end?
