Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Linner, Dinner & Squig Sleep

Blueberry oatmeal for breakfast is the bomb!

I don't know who went and gave Alexa permission to turn six months old, but I would like that permission to be revoked. I'm not ready. I'm simply not ready for how quickly she is growing and changing. All of a sudden I feel like I can't keep up. Yesterday I had a meltdown before grocery shopping because I knew that Alexa was ready to add breakfast to her daily meal schedule and needed some meat to be added to her dinner repertoire.

I've been having trouble finding enough organic fruits and vegetables for just lunch and dinner, but now I have to add a fruit for breakfast, another vegetable for dinner and a somewhat organic or hormone free meat too? In retrospect, I think the stress was less about finding the right food and more about my little girl growing up.

More Momma! More!

How can she be on a big girl eating and sleeping schedule already? I mean, wasn't she just born a few weeks ago? She's practically eating meals at the table with Momma and Daddy. (Well, if we actually ate our meals at the table and not on the living room couch AND if I would break down and buy her a high chair and stop waiting until I can afford the one I REALLY want.)

And then there's the sleep. First, we can't keep Alexa off her belly sleeping or awake. The kid is determined to crawl! While I appreciate her dedication and work ethic, I wish she would quit practicing in her sleep. Alexa's new sleep tricks have earned her the nickname squiggle butt. Not only can we not keep the kid on her back while she sleeps, we can't keep her in any reasonable direction. She may have a future in acrobatics. She wakes herself up at least once a night, but usually several times a night, and gets herself caught in the corner of the crib. I'm a light sleeper so I hear her rustling around every single time. Since I've caught her with a blanket wrapped around her head more than once, I can't keep myself from checking just to make sure she's o.k.

What? I'm sleeping. Can't you tell?

This dedication to crawling means we need to child proof, STAT! The way Alexa stares across the room at the cats, t.v. remote or any other forbidden item with a devilish gleam in her eye just affirms that once she can get her hands on them she plans to dole out some destruction.

You so funny Momma!

In six short months, she's now eating real food three times a day, working feverishly on her ability to be mobile and biding her time until she can get into some real trouble. If I don't feel prepared for her to be six months old, I wonder what these next few months will be like?

Helmets may not come in pretty pink or lavender but they save trips to the ER!

That blueberry oatmeal looks yum yum especially on a little one as sweet as Alexa. She is growing like a weed. Wish I could see and hold her.
