Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

You Know Shoes?

This week went by wicked fast. I can't believe I haven't posted in more than a week! Wasn't Alexa's two month check-up yesterday? Not only is time moving at warp speed, but so is my sweet pea. I'm absolutely astounded by how much her intellect is changing daily. I can't possibly do a chronological recap of the week, so I thought I would share a story from today that perfectly exemplifies our little whipper snapper daughter.

I have dragged this poor child across the ends of the earth this week. Alexa is quite the social butterfly, but every girl has her limits. By Wednesday she started to cry at the sight of her car seat. Put her in it and the full fledged sobs started rolling down her chubby, squeezable cheeks. Today I wanted to take her for a walk since we hadn't been able to take one since Monday. Taking a walk, unfortunately, requires the car seat.

I cringed at the thought of the sobbing that would lead up to the realization that we were on a walk and not getting into the car. So, I put Alexa in her bouncy seat so I could change my clothes and get ready for the walk. That alone was enough to start some serious whining. I sucked it up and moved forward. I grabbed the car seat out of the front closet and sure enough, Alexa cranked it up a notch from whining to crying. So, I flopped her in the car seat, buckled her in and ran back to the closet to grab my shoes. Girl cried the whole time. I walked around the corner with my tennis shoes and she looked up at me with her tear stained face and saw the tennis shoes in my hand and stopped. When I put the shoes on she actually smiled. Now how does this kid know that when I put on my tennis shoes we are going for a walk? Granted, I don't wear tennis shoes any other time....but seriously, my girl knows the difference between shoes at two months old?

That's just one example of the mind numbing cuteness we are seeing on a daily basis. I also have to give a shout out to Alexa's master mimic skills. She can copy a smile, nose crinkle, lifting eyebrows, dance moves, some sounds and of course sticking out her tongue. Here are some pictures that share other highlights from our week:

She can Bumbo now!

Getting a super snuggle from Miss Dana.

Playing on the salon couch while Mama got her hair done.

Charming Cherie with her big smiles.

I may be a Mama, but that doesn't mean I have to look like a Mama. Check out my new purple and copper hair with mega bangs! My fab friend Cherie (BFF since 2nd grade) gave me the Mama conversion.

She is growing like a weed. She'll be 10 years old before I get to see her in person, then she'll be too old and mature for me to hold and cuddle. Boo Hoo for me!! Can't wait to see the little tricks she's holding on to for Halloween.

Love,
A,Gloria

Amie -
That's a great hair-style...very smooth, shiny, and metallic looking. I like that look! The bangs made me think "Deana" when I first saw you!
Well, of course Alexa knows her shoes. Look who her mother is! Tell Al to teach her "Da-da" and "Ma-ma" by Halloween. If she can smack her lips she can definitely say her m-m-m's! Granny-Pat
