Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

On Top of the World

This one's for you Aunt G!

It was a great weekend. A really, really great weekend. It kicked off on Friday with a fun trip to the Children's Museum. Alexa and I met our friend Lori and her two girls. I had only been there for work meetings. This was my first time there to explore and play. Little A loved it! There were so many people to watch and bright things to stare down and figure out. The trip couldn't have been better timed. I was at the point where one more day at home would have pushed me completely to the brink. Getting out and watching Alexa enjoy the atmosphere was the breath of fresh air that I desperately needed.

The bright Chihuly glass that caught Alexa's eye.

On Saturday, we had a double dose of super fabulousness. We had our first visit with Alexa's birth parents and Picard and I had our first official date night! The visit with Alexa's BP's was really enjoyable despite some serious logistical issues. We had decided to meet at a pumpkin patch, but unfortunately the temperature on Saturday was only in the 40's. Of course our chilly poo cried. We decided to go have lunch so everyone could be warm and they could see Miss A in a more happy state. So, we drove to the complete opposite side of town, to the wrong restaurant, then to the right restaurant - which ended up being closed. Fortunately there was a Chili's right next door, so no more driving was in order. Once we got settled we had a chance to have a real conversation. I'm glad to share the BP's are both doing well and are now engaged. I don't know how they felt after the visit, but I found myself completely overwhelmed again at the amazing gift they have given us and their mind-blowing maturity in maintaining our relationship.

The BP visit was amazing, but definitely exhausting. At first, Picard and I didn't think we could find the energy for date night. But as soon as we got to the fabu new sushi restaurant for dinner we found our groove. The food was delicious. The saketinis had the right blend of alcohol and crisp flavor to both energize and relax us. It was a much needed opportunity for us to connect, laugh and unwind.

Me and my poo

Think kitty is feeling a bit neglected?

I had such a great time Friday and Saturday, my energy came surging back today. I got the laundry done, cleaned a few things in the house, paid bills, went to Costco, did the grocery shopping and cooked dinner. Of course, Sunday is Daddy and daughter day, which makes doing all of those things much easier.

It really just was a perfect weekend. I'm feeling good about starting the week with a smile on my face, my pantry fully stocked and the energy to do more.

You gotta love the chubs. Check out those cheeks! We're in the midst of another growth spurt. Every morning we get a new baby out of bed.

Sweet! The Children's Museum was the highlight of my day on Friday too. Although we need to go somewhere that I can hold her! I'm so busy with the girls in public that I never get to squeeze baby!

One word for you: Ponchos. Oh yeah, done. So cute, so done. I sewed those suckers up to 1 hour before portraits! Greg had to do ALL the cooking!

Those little legs on Alexa are so-o-o s-t-r-e-t-c-h-ing out! Or am I deluded by long empty socks?

I love the way Al's hand covers her entire body! Are those eyes as dark brown as they look? All of my friends say that she looks just like you and Al completely! Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze.

That chubby-cheek picture opened in Zoom on my computer! At first I thought I was looking at the baby that ate New York.

I agree with g-ma-pat, with those tights on Alexa, she looks oh-so-long and growing by the second! She is such a cutie and were not biased at all! Alexa is what she is and that spells ADORABLE!
On the crafting front, yes ribbons & gourds for a centerpiece is crafting!
Now your a ma-ma and crafting and you have a good friend in Lori who takes you to children museums, so your officially in the MOMMY MODE!

GREAT picture. I knew it was just a matter of time. I still wish I could see Alexa in person, but the picture will hold me over for a little while.

Thanks,
Aunt G
