Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

We're Here, We're Here!!

So sorry for the big blog blackout. We are here. We are alive. We are well. I had an incredibly hard and emotionally rewarding week last week. It started with me crying and ended with me feeling more positive and inspired than I have in a long time. I'm way too behind on blogging to do the full week in review, so the short story is that I had a business luncheon, a fundraiser and delivered my first training session outside the home (since having the baby). In the end it was great to get out of the house - and at the same time I was super glad I don't have to do it all the time. Last week made me realize what a great work/life "balance" I have right now. I put balance in quotes because after you have a baby, your life is never balanced again. But it's the common verbiage everyone uses, so there you go.

Here are some pic updates from this past week:

Who's smiling bigger? Mommy and Alexa love to laugh and smile together.

Alexa went the opening of Nordstrom last week and picked out these Prada shoes to replace her own heelarious heels, which we lost (and then miraculously found later).

Alexa found her thumb! She sucked it for a few seconds then forgot it existed.

Daddy holding Alexa, looking at the iphone and chatting it up with Tillie at the big family reunion this past weekend.

Further proof that this is the child we were meant to raise. Of course I didn't grab the camera quick enough to capture her rubbing the makeup brush on her face, but you still get the idea.

Amie,

Thank you SO MUCH for the kind words! They meant a lot to me. Make up brushes at Month 2? Along with heels? You're in for some Princess Trouble! I got Sara her own brushes, but NOOO. She has to use my MAC brushes! WHAT?! It's all good until they steal our GOOD stuff!

She's so beautiful!!! Loving that dress!

Love, Lori

Great pictures, Amie...
It sure is fun to watch not only Alexa's growth...but the way Captain Picard is so attentive to his baby girl.
You must tell Al that mothers and grandmothers are especially wise. I told him that his life would start all over again...and it would be loaded with joy and little surprises that'd make his life way-y-y better than before. Love, G-Mama Pat :-) xxx000
