Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Stupid Giddy

I've been so blown away the past few days by how stupidly happy me and Picard get when Alexa learns something new. We smile and laugh our fool heads off when she sticks out her tongue, smiles at us or otherwise shows us her playful tendencies. You'd think we'd won the lottery the way we whoop and holler every time her eyes sparkle and she shows interest in something new. Here are a few of the new skills that make us gleeful and giddy.

Alexa learned from Daddy how to stick out her tongue. It's the first facial expression she's able to mimic. She will sometimes even start a game all on her own.

Here's another tongue pic from yesterday afternoon. As you can see she's sitting in my lap, looking at me, sticking out her tongue.

This is a new facial expression. Good Gawd I hope she never asks me for anything with this look on her face! You want a pony? O.k. Ten more cookies? Sure. A Prada bag? Well, I would have probably said yes to that one anyway, so I guess that one doesn't count. But, seriously, doesn't this look just pull your heart right out of your chest?

Alexa has also learned to enjoy our daily walks. The first few times we went, she startled at every bump and crack in the road. But now, she snuggles down right away. When she's awake, she loves the feeling of the wind on her face. She blinks her eyes and leans her head into the breeze. I haven't been able to catch it on film yet, but it's crazy adorable.
