Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Major Girl Problem

Alexa has a girl problem. I can't really talk to my girlfriends about it. It's the type of topic that makes girls very sensitive. It's not a serious problem, but it's definitely important. I guess I better just come out with it; Alexa has a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. Let's face it. No girl wants to hear another girl talk about how she can't wear ANY of her clothes because they're JUST too big. She can't say, oh, if I could just put on a couple pounds I'd have so much more to wear. Well, not if she wants friends that are girls. She has just had to suck it up and try to mix and match as much as possible.

I'm totally kidding about it being a serious problem, of course. But, since Alexa was born, she has worn preemie sizes. We didn't want to buy a lot of preemie size clothes thinking she would quickly outgrow them. So, I was super excited yesterday when I put on Alexa's preemie size sleeper and the legs were the length of c'pants. (C'pants are an ankle length capri, which is a huge fashion faux pas.) I think she's almost ready for newborn sizes. She has tons of clothes starting at newborn sizes and 0-3 months, she just has to hit the big 8 lb mark to wear them. Her doctor appointment is tomorrow. I'm guessing she's a bit past 7 lbs. now.

Here are a few other new Mommy/Alexa pictorial updates:

I think her laundry makes sexy time during the night and multiplies before morning when I thrown it in the washer. This is one load of three I did yesterday!
Lucky for Alexa, her Mommy has fashion connections. My friend Marci is starting an organic clothing line called Shantytown. This adorable patchwork dove onesie is from her children's collection. Yep, my baby wears green haute couture.

Everyone has asked me what in the world tummy time means. Every since the AAP has recommended babies sleep on their backs to reduce SIDS, they have also recommended that babies spend time playing on their stomachs every day to build their crawling muscles (which in turn supports their brain development.) Here is a video of Alexa working her muscles.

Amie,

Thank you so much for the comment. Today is sunny and bright and Kelly was baptized this morning in the ocean by the Pastor who baptized Greg and Sara. Much better day.

I had the same problems with my peanuts. The good news is that they stayed newborn size forever, so I really got a lot of use out of that set of clothes. My girls are running around today in white dresses. Who doesn't love dressing girls?!!! The laundry SUCKS!

Miss you, Lori

"You go, girl!" is my comment to Alexa about her vast wardrobe. It's important to start out early as a high-maintenance Fashionista. This girl is definitely on a good path, thanks to her beautiful mother with the fetish for purple.
