Gaining our strength

Alexa likes to study our faces and listen to our voices after she eats.
As you can see, she takes her studies seriously.

Today was another good day. A very good day indeed. Alexa's blood work came back with significant improvements. Although she is not yet at normal levels, her improvements have been so significant that she no longer has to have the blood screens done daily. She has no jaundice and is back to gaining weight. The doctor said that Alexa will continue on her antibiotics five more days. They expect a full recovery with no long term developmental delays.

It's amazing to watch Alexa grow every day. Today she was feisty. Even in her sleep she was very active. She wakes up now every time we come to see her or leave her. She wakes up early for feedings and chugs her bottles with delight when the time to eat finally comes. She took a full bottle plus at her second feeding. It's almost as though she's making up for lost time. Her neck strength, grip and limb strength are shockingly good. She was much harder to hold today and my arm actually ached at the end of the day.

Picard and I are also gaining our strength. We had the energy to do some housework tonight after getting back from the hospital. We got our chores done so we can start the week with clean clothes and a clean house. Soon the long days at the hospital will be a distant memory and Alexa will be home making messes faster than we can clean them up.
