Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

First-time Parents?

I was thinking today how funny it is that we're such free spirited parents for this being our first go-round at the gig. Of course, an independent observer might disagree, but I think we've been very relaxed through this very exciting and tumultuous new journey. Here are some examples of our easy breezy parenting attitudes.

Alexa had her first babysitter on Tuesday! I had my OPTIONS meeting (a women's philanthropy group) and Jules generously offered to watch pumpkin for me. It was very anticlimactic to leave Alexa for three hours, but that could be because I would trust Julie with my life.

I let Alexa play in the grass today - on a blanket of course. She loved the feel of the grass in her hands and looking at leaves.

Oh no! We also let her lick the inside of a grape and squeezed the juice in her mouth. This pic isn't from that occasion, but I thought it was funny to capture the sentiment.

This is actually a nighttime pic. See the sleepy eyes? Alexa stays awake a lot more now and fights sleep when it's time. We let her fuss it out (not to be confused with cry it out) and after about 20 minutes she drifts off to sleep.

You and Al are doing great. The two of you were always a strong team together B.B. (before baby), so now your team excels at A.B.!
