Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Big Girl Bed

Alexa's first nap in her big girl bed - she's looking at a fun mirror clipped to the side of the crib.

Alexa decided yesterday that she was over the bassinet. It wasn't our choice. It was definitely hers. She made her decision clear by fussily whimpering and crying most of Sunday day and night. I noticed she was looking around a lot when she was supposed to be sleeping. Yesterday morning it occurred to me that she was bored out of her gourd. She was not impressed that it took so long for us to figure out she wanted more stuff to look at and play with. I took her up to her room and showed her all of her new toys and she was transformed. She simmered right down as she soaked up all of the bright colors and textures. We both slept much better last night. Boy am I glad we bought a super cheap bassinet. We used it for five whole days.

See the tummy time play mat smile? She also loves the rhythm of Dr. Seuss books and classical music when she sleeps.

Daddy dispenses the early evening gas in the tummy snuggle time.

*For the record, I typed this whole thing with my right hand because gassy snuggle time came early today and I'm holding Alexa with my left hand.

It's so much fun, Amie, to watch Alexa's development. She's such a lucky girl to have parents who are smart enough to keep up with her! When a child gets bored this young, she is a bright and intelligent baby. Of course, all of the children and grandchildren that Deana and I have...are naturally gifted! Right, Deana?

Typing with one hand? You're such a a natural at this Mommy thing.

Loving the crib! You know our girls...they never warmed to the bassinet either. Your instincts rock!

Not sure if you've tried the swaddle yet, but that worked for our fussy girls. Well that, and tiny tummies medicine!

LOVE THE CUPCAKES!

See you soon and hellos from the beach,

Greg, Lori, Sara & Kelly
