Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

We've waited more than three years for this post...

That's right. We have amazing, over the top good, mind numbing, truly freaking fabulous news to share! We have been chosen by a birth mother already! I know. I know. We didn't even get a chance to tell you that our application was active! In fact, it was only really active for one day before the birth mother saw our profile online.

We got a call on Memorial Day to say that a birth mother was interested in talking with us. She was also going to talk to one other couple the following night. After talking with me on the phone, she decided that she wanted to meet us. Last Wednesday, May 28 we met both the birth mother and birth father for dinner. It was surprisingly comfortable and both Picard and I liked them immediately.

The birth mom called us that night to say that she chose us! She said there was absolutely no discussion, both her and her boyfriend felt that we were the perfect choice to parent their unborn child.

So, I know you're all dying to know.......Ultrasound says IT'S A GIRL! (Although the birth mother could have sworn it was a boy.) The baby is Caucasian and she is likely to be born at the end of July, just a bit before her August due date.

The hard part about domestic adoption is that nothing is final until the baby is born and the papers are signed. So, up until the papers are signed, the birth mother could change her mind. The birth father has already signed off his rights, which is a great sign.

So, for now, we wait for the birth of the baby that we hope will be ours with guarded hearts that have already fallen haphazardly in love with this child we don't know at all.

I realized I really had to buy a crib...and this was the final choice.

Nursery design inspiration - colors are green, pink and purple for girl,

green, blue and brown if ultrasound is wrong :)

WOW! Things are happening fast, well sort of! Fast for the domestic part of the application, but I know it's been along wait. Any names yet? Keep me posted and I'll be thinking and praying for you both - for you three

Love,
A.Gloria

I am loving that furniture. It's good that you went with something innately you, because you're going to be staring at it...A LOT. I am loving the design and colors. I've already babbled all over you in excitement, I won't do it again. I was kissing Chubs on the cheeks while putting Duck's hair in a ponytail today and I thought of you and all the overwhelming love you're about to encounter. It's unreal. Start practicing these precious words, "My daughter..."

See you soon, Lori
