These are my Confessions
As I've been thinking about all of the updates I need to post, the song Confessions by Usher keeps popping into my mind. As you read each mini-update (of guilty pleasures), I'm sure you'll see why the word confession seems so accurate.
New Years Eve was a little too fun - My last post said that I would share my New Years Resolutions after the champagne wore off. Obviously that never happened. The fun of our New Years celebration stayed with me for at least two full days. I spent my New Years Day praying to the porcelain god and watching reruns of the Twilight Zone.We started our New Years celebration by having dinner with Peyton Manning and some of Picard's high school friends. Ok, so Peyton wasn't really having dinner with us, but his group was seated right next to ours. After a super-fab dinner, we met up with my friends for drinks and dancing. I don't think we hit the sack until 4 a.m. and I can tell you that since the onset of our 30s, that doesn't happen very often anymore. Click here to see more fun pictures as a slideshow.
My New Years resolutions will have to coincide with Chinese New Year - Despite plenty of time to think about it, I don't have a full and complete list of New Year's resolutions. I know that my overall goal is to have a very vibrant year. I think figuring out a few more details of what exactly that means could help me fulfill the resolution :)
I've been keeping ladybugs on my counter in a plastic bowl - I had a phantom ladybug in the house for awhile. She would fly around at night for a few seconds and then hide the rest of the time. The only way I ever knew she was there was when the cats started looking at the ceiling. Well, one day she was on the couch next to me and didn't look well. So, I put her in my plant soil and gave her a raisin to eat. Sadly, she did not make it. So, I took her outside and gently lay her to rest in our flower bed.
The very next day another phantom lady bug appeared and followed the exact same disappearance reappearance cycle. After a week or so, she too looked ill. So, I put her in a bowl on the counter, put rain drop sizes of water and a raisin in there. She rejuvenated! A couple days later she was flying and hiding again. Then, just this week, I thought that she too had passed on to the great beyond of ladybugs. I was too sad to lay her to rest, so I just left her on the counter. Much to my surprise she resurrected! She is once again cruising around the bowl.
We've already covered on the blog that ladybugs are a sign of luck in Chinese adoption, but I'm not sure what it says about me that I'm so desperate for any good luck sign that I'm actually keeping them on my counter top. I do want to add, though, that I don't ever recall having ladybugs in our house before these two. We have our fair share of spiders and the occasional ant come to visit, but never before a lady bug.
China matched parents through a log-in date of December 19 and then removed the information box from their site - These matches were mailed at the end of December, but represent the January matches. It was a dismally small group, representing only three business days. And yes, we are still talking about parents who had their paperwork logged into the Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs in 2005.There is a lot of speculation about what removing the box with log-in dates from the China website means, but it could mean that changes to the program are underway. Let's hope that whatever changes may happen will speed up the referral process and make all of us prospective parents real parents faster.
Me and the girls went to see a psychic - For each of our birthdays, me and the girls do some sort of experience together. For my birthday we made custom perfumes. For Ninny's birthday we did a spa day together. For Party Princess' birthday we all went to see a psychic.
The psychic was really fun. Each of us had an individual 30 minute session. We all had very different experiences. Mine was great. In the end, it felt sort of like therapy. There were a few moments where she uncannily asked questions or made statements that were dead on. When talking about my career, she asked, "why do I see clothes all around you?" Uhm, because I work for Dress for Success. When I asked about children she said, "I sense that you are having dreams about your future child." Uhm, yes I am. And for the BIG question as to when, she said soon, very soon. She said it will be very unexpected and she sees two children. It could be twins or we could get one child now and another one later. Either way, I like the way she thinks!
Whew! I feel better now. Thanks for letting me clear the air and share my confessions!

I must say I had a moment of jealousy when I saw the name Payton Manning. I don't care if he was only in the next room how exciting. Anyway hopefully the physic is rite on and the child will be here soon. Looks like you and Alan did enough partying for all! Happy New Year.
