Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Month Four & We'll Be Waiting A Whole Lot More

Last week the CCAA updated their website to reflect the latest set of matches. We have now officially waited four months for our future wee one (September counted as month one - the first full month after our Log-In Date of August 14, 2007). In four months, CCAA has matched families with log-in dates from November 25, 2005 through December 14, 2005. That is 14 days of LID, LID's are not given on weekends, or an average of 3.5 days per month. It's not pretty.

I had my monthly meltdown on Friday. The good news is that the meltdowns seem to be getting shorter. My first few lasted a couple weeks. This time I was pretty good by Saturday.

We're researching other adoption options, but honestly only half-heartedly at this point. When we look into other programs it just doesn't feel right. I'm a big believer in intuition. I've been fortunate to find a great husband, loving cats, good jobs and great friends when I've followed my gut feelings. I've also found when I try to push against my internal voice, it never seems to work out.

So, I don't know if we'll be pulled to other countries or domestic adoption at some point, but right now we're not. My head says protect yourself and start seriously checking into your other options, but my heart won't have any bit of it.

Other Random Picard and Dior Updates

A Christmas tradition - each year Picard and I pick out one new big ornament to place on the tree. Picard picked the owl because he loves the owls that "whooo" at us in our back yard. I picked the bustier because it's sparkly and purple! We picked the little Chinese girl and Pagoda on a separate shopping trip. It was a must-have for all of the obvious reasons. Don't they make a cute family?

This is me and the Party Princess at the Princess' Big Birthday Bash. It was BIG fun. BIG! Don't know what I'd do without my girl posse. We dress like divas, drink like sorority sisters, blow off steam and leave a legacy wherever we go. (I'm quite proud to say we had the same bartender at Princess' birthday party as we did at mine. When we asked the bartender if he remembered us he said, "hell ya, you're bad ass!" He then comforted us by sharing that he keeps confidentiality like a doctor with his patients. Whew!)
