Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Romancing The Ordinary

"Autumn....asks that we prepare for the future - that we be wise in the ways of garnering and keeping. But it also asks that we learn to let go - to acknowledge the beauty of sparseness."
-B.W. Overstreet

The above quote is written in the September chapter of Romancing The Ordinary, one of my favorite books of all time. It's written by Sarah Ban Breathnach, a New York Times bestseller who shares how she learns one of life's greatest lessons, to live simply and rejoice in the ordinary happenings of every day. There is a chapter for each month of the year. Each chapter pulls from a myriad of sources, from classic literature to Sarah's own homemade recipes for simple pleasures. This book really speaks to my senses, the part of me that wants to breathe deep and notice the way the air smells of crisp, dry leaves....the part of me that wants to notice the fuzzy softness of a peach before I delight in its juicy taste.

I'm constantly struggling to live in the present. It's so easy for me to live in a future fantasy land that I create in mind. I've made a focused effort over the past few days to live in the moment, to be present and I'm happy to say; I'm happier.

Warm berry crumble bake I made tonight. Take that senses! I'm off to live in the moment with this fabulous dessert!
