2 antsy parents-to-be + 21 month wait = The List
Yes, my constructive side has kicked back in. Although I still refuse to believe that the wait will actually BE 21 months, I'm going to go ahead and prepare my mind for it. The way I see it, if I keep myself super busy for the next 21 months and the child unexpectedly arrives sooner, I can be like "score, that went by really fast!" On the other hand, if I ONLY cling to my belief that the wait will be shorter than expected, well then, I'm going to be stuck in this dark and gray cloud where my mind repeats with relentless precision "But, I want our child now!" See how my tricky mind works? It's hard to out think your own mind, but I am determined to duel it out with the dark side and let goodness and happiness win out.
The List is designed to help me with the above endeavors. I know that all of our friends and family can give us cool things to do for 21 months that fits the category "Things you MUST do before you have children." So, get your creative juices fired up and add your task to the list! I'll compile all of the comments on this front page and then Picard and I will get to work on completing each task on the list. We'll even take pictures of each activity!
So, spill the beans! Either give us a suggestion to celebrate our last days as YUPPIE DINKS (young, urban, professional, double income, no kids) or share the things that we must do now to prepare to be the best parents ever!

2 Comments:
1. Sleep in as many days as you can.
2. Take as many vacations as possible.
3. Most people say read books on parenthood- I say go ahead if you want to waste your time, lol. No book can tell you what it is really gonna be like. No child is programmed that way...
Ok now all the stuff you have to do.
1. Shop- I know you can handle that! Buy something once everytime you get paid. It makes it fun and then you wont know how much you have spent in the long run.
2. Decorate- the room- little by little.
3. Start a baby book- Make a notation in it once a month until the baby arrives. Let her know what tasks you have completed and how you feel.
This should keep ya busy...
Plus others have to leave comments!
1. The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems by Tracy Hogg.
2. The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey (because the first thing children do is throw you in debt).
2. Any book on how to play with a infants/toddlers. Unless you're a teacher or developmental specialist, I found trying to come up with creative ways to play with Sara & Kelly kind of mind-numbing.
3. Avoid toys that take batteries. First, they can squash creativity, and second, they're only going to cost you more money. Buy toys that allow your child to be industrious and creative.
4. Save for a great swingset. Bar none, the greatest summer toy for kids. Even at 2, Sara is on that thing every day.
5. Buy a super soft glider rocker with arms. But not too high arms. You need room for a boppy and a bottle. SOFT! Your butt will make indentions into it by the time she is three. And a footrest for the rocking chair. A real bonus.
6. Accept that you are powerless over Elmo. He will seep into your house, even if you never turn on the TV. He is omnipresent in a early toddler's world. He is irritating, so be prepared...
And enjoy the journey. The future is charging at you, faster than you think. Love, Team Fulk
