Why I Love This Man.....

Today, Alan (real names are in order for this one) and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary. We've been together for 14 years total now. Today, I was reminded why I love this man so much. Did he bring me flowers? Prada shoes? A Dior handbag? No, no and no.

I was near tears today while waiting at the police department for our criminal history clearance letters. It has just been one of those days where everything has been more complicated than it really needed to be. My police record was nowhere to be found and his had his birthday wrong. I sent him a text that said "our crim history letters are all messed up." He texted back, "Am I an escaped felon? Cool." I laughed out loud. It was exactly the stress relief I needed at that moment.

When he got home, I said (within 3 seconds of his arrival) "I need wine and steak! I'm stressed. I need to relax or I'm going to blow up." He said "o.k., where do you want to go?" Within 30 minutes I was at the restaurant.

It's those little moments that remind me why I married this fabulous man in the first place. I'll take these moments over a card and flowers any day.

Oh, and if you're wondering why I haven't included a picture of myself, it's because I looked like a crazed, cross-dressing felon in every one we took. We took the pictures ourselves because we were too embarrassed to ask somebody at the restaurant to take our picture. (These are the things you get over when you have kids, aren't they?) Anyways, here's a small picture of me and Alan which clearly demonstrates my over-the-edgeness.
