Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Three Comforting Thoughts for Easter Weekend

Our future wee one may not be born yet, but we're one step closer to her. Our home study not only went really well, but was truly pleasant. After waiting two years to start this process, I find it fun to talk about our future child, how we will parent her and how Picard and I decided that our family was incomplete. Our social worker loved our house, thought Al and I were a great pair and was impressed with the amount of research we had done on Chinese culture and adoption.

We spent the weekend with our families, celebrating Easter and the successful completion of the interview process. That's right! We have no more in-person interviews. We are done. Now we just need to buckle down and pull through this uber-stack of paperwork.

Our future wee one may not be in our family yet, but she is loved. As we recounted the tales of our adoption process so far, our families responded with enthusiasm and excitement. Everyone is looking forward to having this child as part of our family. Captain Picard's heart has even grown so big he shockingly offered to accept twins if we happen to be matched with two beauties when the time comes. (Being matched with twins is the only way to adopt more than one child at a time in China.)

Our future wee one may not be in our arms yet, but she is fancy. One of my dear friends, Ninny Fabulous (or Tina if you'd like to call her by her given name), gave me the most precious gift for our future pea pod. What is the one crucial essential that a daughter of Miss Dior must have, why a Dior baby bottle of course! I love, love, love it!
