Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Busy Little Beavers

Words that used to be so simple. Busy little beavers. Now as I ponder our future intercultural/interracial family, I wonder, what's the Chinese parallel? If you want to really emphasize to someone in China how absolutely busy you are, what do you say? Are you busy as an animal? A mythical creature? A famous person? Ahhhh, I digress.....

We've been working feverishly on many projects. Elakshi got her shots updated. We did our spring "somebody is coming to our house to judge us as parents" cleaning. We've gotten great tips from family and friends for easy ways to move forward with our dossier paperwork. We got a new roof put on our house today. We have a dossier conference call tomorrow. In between these major tasks we've been keeping ourselves busy with our jobs, eating and sleeping.

I thought a few pictures with quotes would be the quickest way to bring everybody up to date.

How do I not completely panic at this massive stack of adoption paperwork?
Well, wine sure helps.

When the above remedies fail, I just delegate my work to my secretary :)

Does this mean NA-NA can start buying more "PRETTIES" for lil Miss Ava?
p.s. Sara has her covered on the clothing part for approximately the first two years! LOL

LOVE that you started with a bookshelf, but "The Chronicles of Narnia" may be a bit much for Ava (or maybe not!). Not to worry. Baby Ava can count on Greg and Lori to provide some classics. "Big Red Barn", "Brown Bear, Brown Bear", "If You Take A Mouse to School"...all these titles and contents you will know by heart. From sheer repetition! Best, Lori

You must be exhausted with all the prep work, but I'm sure the wine helps. I think Ava needs a FL Gator added to the shelf - Aunt Gloria will have to work on that!

I must agree you must start with the basics... As much as I hate to say Barney, Telletubbies, The mistery gange, Elmo, and your favorite Barbie. Might be a little bit easier for her to understand, Oh I ment Them!!! I think we will have to wait for the 300 page books! Oh by the way I didn't see any computer programming books on that shelf....
