Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Yin and Yang

The good and the bad. Or the good in the bad. Or the bad in the good.

O.k. - so I got my tooth "fixed" today and we got our dossier guide. Yin Yang is the only concept I can think of to describe how I feel about these two things.

My tooth: The good is that I'm one step closer to my tooth being fixed and feeling like my normal self. The bad is that OMG, are you kidding me, I'm not completely fixed after having a root canal today! I have to go back next week for a permanent filling and a crown. How long is this whole deal going to take??!!

The dossier guide: The good is that we have all of the information we need to start putting together our dossier, the document that will represent us to China. That means we're one step closer. The bad is that this thing is 44 pages long and has a four step certification process for almost every document. For example, we have to order original copies of our birth certificates, have them notarized, have them certified by the Secretary of State and then have them authenticated by the Chinese Consulate. There are 9 documents that go through that process. I saw all of this on page one. I haven't had the heart to turn to page two of the dossier guide.

Help me focus on the yang (the positive) because I'm not feeling it right now.

Nobody ever said Life would be easy but it would be worth it. Take your time, it will all come together. Print up that picture of that doll you got in your email. Look at it and smile, think of the little girl that will be coming your way when ALL those papers are done and in the right hands. Things will turn out the way they are meant to be. And I know in my heart that you will have your daughter. Smile, breath and most of all relax.

hush little baby, don't...you are so close to singing those words to your little one, I can hear it. Nothing good ever came easy, so to get somehting as great as a child it will take a lot. Know that we are thinking of you and will help in any way, just let us know. Oh, I am a notary, I can notarize your docs. We can do it over drinks, all the better. I will also empathize with you on the tooth. I have had a root canal myself...YIKES!!! It really is worth it when all is said and done though. Smile! Or if necessary, cry and mope for a bit to get it all out, then smile!! ~tina

My sister used to say to me, "If it were easier, everyone would do it". You must pay your personal piper.

It's no different than the time you will put into PTA and sewing Halloween Costumes. Parenting starts now! Join the club. Now you know why your Mother says, "Because I'm your Mother and I said so."

Gotta go. Sara just rammed her head into the computer. And where did she get that pen?! WELCOME to the club! Lori
