Super Sort - A Week in the Life of Miss Dior

This past week was one of my busiest at work. We have two major events a year, and this was the first. The week of March 11-17 was Send One Suit week. We had 45 local organizations collect suits, blouses and financial donations to support our organization. In addition to the collections at local organizations, 15 dressbarn stores in Indiana also collected suits and blouses. It takes one week from the collection for us to receive all of the clothing and prepare for the sorting process.

Yesterday, we sorted more than 6,000 pieces of clothing that were donated through Send One Suit week. The picture at the top shows the 30 racks of clothing that were sorted first. We have 40 or more volunteers who help us sort the clothes. The sorting event is called "Super Sort Saturday."


Once we sort through the clothing, everything we can keep is taken back to our boutique. The picture at the bottom shows the suit side of our boutique. We try to keep it merchandised like any small, upscale boutique.

The clothing supports our Suits for Success program and is given to disadvantaged women when they interview Another outfit is given when they find employment. In total, women receive two complete outfits and a confidence boost to help them thrive in work and in life.

It was an intense week, especially considering that I'm still on antibiotics and pain medication. At the end of each night, I would pass out from fatigue. I can't wait until my tooth is fixed and I'm back to my normal energy level. Only one more day; my appointment is Tuesday morning.
