Meet Miss Dior: a fashionista with a Data-like logical side. Married to Captain Picard: a Linux lord with Jean-Luc Picard patience. On a chilly January night in 2005, a journey through space and time began for us when we decided to expand our family through adoption. Our journey to find the child meant for us has led us all over the galaxy, but in the end, we've come back home to adopt a child domestically.

Nice Night and Nice Day

Last night was Picard's Nice Night. For those of you who haven't heard of the new Nice Night tradition, here's the low-down. Each week, one of us gets a night of the other spouse doing nice things for them. The Nice Night honoree gets to choose what they'd like to do for the night and the other person HAS to do it and HAS to be NICE about it. Nice concept, right? :)

So, I come home last night and Al had purchased this little Nice Night present for himself. Aint it purty? It's digital cable.....for the man who hates to watch t.v. Scratching your head? Me too. But then it all became clear. See, Greg at work has digital cable. And Greg can get movies on demand. And Greg can record all his favorite shows. Of course, we must have what Greg has! Funny thing, I don't remember Greg having cables hanging down the wall. I've been assured that it will be all sleek and chic before Monday rolls around. (Do have to admit it makes for a nice HD picture)
In addition to digital cable, Picard was also awarded Chipotle tacos and a nice pale ale. Oh, and we get the metal channel! How lucky are we?

In other exciting news it was a NICE day because we secured our home study agency! They have worked with our adoption agency on several occasions, are super nice and can nearly guarantee a 4-6 week turnaround time with the home study. Love that! Once we get word from the adoption agency that our application has been approved, we can schedule our home study starting approximately one week from that date. Another step! Only, 9,998 miles to go!

As Greg's wife, I can assure you that NOTHING enters our IT domain without Alan a) first having it, and b) blessing it with his Godfather of IT powers. So basically Dior Girl, I feel ya'. And question: do you have cables surrounding every table in your living room, projecting through a hole in the floor, made by Cromagnon Greg? Because I do! Best Wishes and Speedy Travels, Lori

(Greg finds it absolutely imperative that he point out that his "holes" and "wires" somehow give me the ability to watch high def movies on demand while sitting my pregnant ass on the couch, surfing the net. whatever.)
